Excellent Young People

The whole church was explored in the first of our CCC sessions - Confirmation Classes for Children.

We strode out around the church, selecting interesting items to focus on and learn about e.g. cross, font, lectern, door and Remembrance display. The colours of the church year were explained and the knowledgeable young people shared facts about key events e.g. Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. It was good to look up close at the silverware used for Eucharist and notice patterns and designs, whilst remembering the significance of the bread being the body of Christ and the wine the blood of Christ, when he died to be the saviour. The young people were interested to hear that the first ever meal on the moon, 50 years ago, was Communion!

We finished the session with some lively singing, accompanied by guitar, drums, shakers and triangles and sang the traditional hymn, that is often sung in church at Easter, 'When I survey the wondrous cross'. There was just time for a couple of questions and answers at the very end.

There are four more sessions over the next four Mondays (5.30pm to 6.30pm at

St Petroc's Parish Centre) and more children can join us (schools Years 6 to 9).

Please contact the focal minister at barbarabrittain212@gmail.com for more information or to book a place.
