👥Mike tells us about his decision to be confirmed.

Several years ago, Mike visited the Soldier’s Chapel in St. Petroc’s Church. While there, he got chatting with Bryony, a member of the church choir, and he mentioned his love of singing. Since then, Mike has sung with the church choir and also sings with Liskeard Community Choir and Bodmin’s Deanery Choir.

Recently, Mike collapsed during a Sunday service. The way Roland, Andrew, Joanna, and many others helped him during this medical emergency touched him deeply, and he felt truly embraced as part of the St. Petroc’s Church family.

Not long after, Revd Grace announced the next round of Confirmation classes. Mike spoke with her, and she explained that Confirmation is an opportunity to take your faith into your own hands and to say “yes” to what you were baptised into—or, for some, an opportunity to be baptised as well. The preparation sessions are not about showing you have everything figured out, but about being open, asking questions, and taking a step forward in your relationship with God.

Mike was unsure whether he had been baptised as an infant. Revd Grace did some research on his behalf, and no record could be found. Therefore, Mike was also baptised during the Confirmation service on Sunday 22 March 2026.

Mike is honest about his beliefs. He has doubts, but he also has faith, and the preparation sessions enabled him to ask his questions and get ready for his confirmation.

We wish him well as he continues his journey of faith.

It would be great to catch up with others who are confirmed alongside Mike and to hear and share their stories.
