Revd Elaine Munday’s pioneering ministry is marked by faith in action—creating initiatives that support community wellbeing and reveal God’s love in real, practical ways. Throughout her dynamic role, Revd Elaine continually gives thanks for God’s amazing provision, which has empowered the many community projects and initiatives she leads to flourish and make a lasting impact.

Here’s a summary of Revd Elaine’s main projects in chronological order:

Kinsman Hub - A centre for wellbeing

Revd Elaine continues to contribute actively to the hub as a committee member and through her involvement in the monthly 'Cook Ups'—a drop-in and cooking session open to all. In addition, the Community Health and Wellbeing Workers (CHWWs) run a Tuesday afternoon drop-in at the hub, offering further support to the local community.

Crisis Support – Working together

Revd Elaine continues to work hand in hand with the community to provide support at crucial moments, collaborating closely with schools, CAP, Acts 435, Bodmin Town Council and St. Petroc’s Homeless Society. Food provision is supported through OURGATE, while Elaine remains responsive to a wide range of emerging needs.

Community Space – A Hub of Warmth, Support and Connection

Community Space now brings around 50 people together every Friday morning, from 9:30am to noon, at St. Petroc’s Parish Centre for friendship, a free breakfast, and free meals to take away. Parish Nurses are available for private consultation most weeks. Over time, the group has explored meaningful themes such as Remembrance, Christmas, and Holy Week, with Revd Elaine always available to chat about faith and offer prayer.

Community Garden – Growing Together

In 2022, the Community Garden project began to take root, thanks to the dedication of several green-fingered friends of Revd Elaine. Together, they worked hard to clear and transform areas around St. Petroc’s Church, creating a garden space for everyone to enjoy. Members of the community are warmly invited to get involved in its ongoing maintenance and development.

Moments of Blessing – Celebrating Community and Joy

Moments of Blessing is a heartwarming programme running throughout the year, creating special opportunities for community connection, reflection, and celebration. Whether it’s handing out chocolate eggs while families write heartfelt prayers to hang on the Easter Prayer Tree, or sharing laughter and sunshine during summer fun in the park, each moment offers a chance to come together, celebrate, and be blessed.

Community Cook Up – Cooking Up Connection

Drawing on her experience at Bodmin College, Revd Elaine teamed up with Beth Woolley and many others to launch Community Cook Up in October 2023. This monthly, hands-on cooking session, 11am to 2.30pm, invites people to come together in St. Petroc’s Parish Centre to share the joy of preparing and enjoying meals.

Bodmin Way Health Initiatives – Community Support in Action

In July 2024, an exciting health initiative launched through a collaboration between Volunteer Cornwall and the NHS. Community Health and Wellbeing Workers (CHWWs) were appointed. Revd Elaine serves as the Lead Coach for this Bodmin Way programme. In addition, she leads another related health initiative in partnership with Bosvnena and Three Harbours. As part of this project, Bodmin Way was selected to run a pilot scheme for Health Coaches. Following interviews, two coaches were appointed: Abbie Cavalera and Beth Rawlinson.

Community Cuppa – Warmth, Welcome and Conversation

Community Cuppa is held on Thursdays from 10am to 4pm in St. Petroc’s Church, offering a warm and welcoming space where everyone is invited to connect over a cuppa.

Community C – Coffee, Cake, Crumpets, Crafts… and Connection!

Launched in September 2024, Community C is a free monthly drop-in designed to offer a warm, friendly, and supportive space for people to meet others and feel part of the local community. Held on the first Wednesday of each month, from 10am to noon, in St. Mary’s Parish Centre, the group brings people together for all the Cs!

Weigh and Pray – Supportive Offer

Launched in July 2025, Weigh and Pray is a compassionate initiative held alongside Community Space every Friday, 11am, at St. Petroc’s Parish Centre. Following a private consultation, a volunteer offers to say a prayer with the attendee, combining spiritual support with practical encouragement on their health journey.
