Rock Buns and Coffee
👥 For more than four years, Alison has been a valued member of the St Petroc’s Church family.
She first met Revd Paul Holley at the baptism of her neighbour’s daughter. His warm and welcoming manner encouraged her to come along to a Sunday morning service—and she has been part of the church community ever since.
Not long after joining, Alison volunteered for the refreshments rota. Once a month, she can be found serving tea, coffee, biscuits and her famous homemade rock buns after the service.
“I learnt to make them at school,” Alison says with a smile. “It’s a very simple recipe. In my opinion, the buns go really well with a cup of coffee.”
Before moving to Cornwall, Alison taught Domestic Science in a secondary school, passing on her passion for cooking and practical skills with many young people.
Sharing refreshments after the service is much more than enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. It is an important part of our church life, giving everyone the chance to catch up with friends, strengthen relations, and welcome new faces.
A heartfelt thank you to Alison, and to everyone on our refreshments team, for helping to make this special time such an important and much-loved part of church life at St Petroc’s.
