For several months, Catherine has served as a much-loved sidesperson, greeting everyone with a warm welcome and a cheerful smile as she hands out hymn books.

More recently, she has also taken on the important role of sacristan. Early on Sunday mornings you’ll find her in the sacristy, carefully preparing the chalice (cup), paten (plate), wafers, wine, and other items for Holy Communion.

Catherine shares:“When Revd Simon was presiding at a Sunday Eucharist, he showed me everything that needs to be done and how to place the vessels on the altar. Each minister has their own preferences—it’s my job to set everything out ready for the priest to arrange as they wish.”

This quiet, behind-the-scenes work is vital. Holy Communion is the heart of our shared worship—a moment when we remember together the death and resurrected life of Jesus.

We’re grateful for Catherine and all she brings to the life of St. Petroc’s.
