Start Continues with Session 5 The Cross of Christ

We enjoyed the company and contributions of those at the Start course this week.

Claire invited us to think of great things people have done for us. We were amazed at some of the stories of kindness that were shared!

We linked this to the cross and thought about the great thing Jesus accomplished by dying.

He became the way to God for everyone. We need a saviour because we have all fallen short of God’s glory. One man died so that everyone can live.

Claire played a wonderful song about the cross My Lord, what love is this

We thought about the amazing love God has for us.

To help us to continue to think about the cross during the week, Claire shared her playlist (click on the orange links to see the YouTube clips):

We are invited to read Luke 23:39-43, and consider which of the two responses of the criminals is closest to our own:

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Dorothy gave our prayer for this week: Thank you God for your faithfulness.
